University Hospital of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

The Department of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy focuses on the aging society and mainly performs studies in healthy aging as well as in neurodegenerative diseases (see: Cognitive functions and the ageing brain). We apply cognitive training and non-invasive brain stimulation to counteract the loss of cognitive abilities. Furthermore, we employ neuroimaging techniques to explore the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms of learning as well as to identify biological markers that allow an improved prognosis of the therapeutic outcome (see: Interventions in cognitive decline).
